This is Halloween!!!

Keefe made this awesome Halloween town out of paper, glue, and paint. The baby pumpkins were out of a fall popery.

I was a black widow and Keefe was not the masked bird- he was the Child Catcher from "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang", but that picture is on my sister's camera:)

Keefe made me this hat! It is pretty much awesome! Do you think they would have let me into the Royal Wedding with such a great hat?

This pumpkin was about 5 or 6 inches thick! It is really a huge pumpkin- about 2 feet wide and 1.5 feet tall. We got it at the farmers market. I like it because it is a blonde pumpkin and it reminded me of my mom:) - Don't read into that last phrase too much. My mom has blonde hair and is very intelligent :)

Keefe decorated our bookshelves with dried leaves and cheesecloth spider webs, along with some fun Halloween props!

I do not know if our wedding photos really mesh with the Halloween decorations, but this mattress wiring makes for awesome decorating!

 We Love Fall

This fall we decided to make the most of the farmer's market and seasonal produce through canning!  Last year we canned peaches, apple butter, pumpkin butter and a turkey. So far this year we have canned rhubarb-raspberry jam, dill pickles, peaches, choke cherry syrup, choke cherry jam, crab apple jelly, crab apple marmalade, pears, and ... We also became ambitious and prepared freezer storage foods such as green chile corn tamales, corn, bread, zucchini bread, green chiles, rhubarb, raspberries, blueberries and peaches. We love our new deep freezer! I guess you could say we are nesting:)
Picking crab apples is so fun!

We waited till after a frost and now the apples are dark red!

I love my pirate husband!!!

Poof! Crab apple jelly, marmalade, and juice! The juice label reads "Bloody Mary, she was a tasteful lady." So funny! We used this juice to make a mold cider for a Halloween get together, and it was delicious! And is it me, or does one of those green apples look poisonous?
